A Trip Through Time:
The Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad offers the entire family the chance to enjoy a classic railroad travel and dining experience on vintage “streamlined” era passenger cars. Step back in time and experience the way society’s elite used to travel to Newport to summer at the famous mansions, yacht clubs, and beaches. See how the railroad helped to build Newport into one of the premiere tourist destinations that it is today. Our route takes you on a journey up the west side of Aquidneck Island, often only feet from Narragansett Bay.

We offer a variety of rail and dining experiences departing right from the north end of the Visitor Center in downtown Newport. Guests wishing to relive the golden days of rail travel can board The Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience, our flagship train, offering a two-hour, multiple course, formal dinner. Parents looking for a family friendly attraction will love Conductor Kalbfus and The Ice Cream Train – a short 45-minute afternoon ride that is perfect after a morning at the beach.

The Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad is not just a train ride; it is also a dining experience. We have our own chef and fully outfitted kitchen car, where food is prepared daily. Our menu includes dinner and lunch options. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan dishes are available upon request. Beers, wines, and spirits are also featured on select trains.
