The Wheels Museum is a non-profit organization that works to preserve the history of transportation and travel, especially as it pertains to Albuquerque and the west.

We are a volunteer run, non-profit organization established to preserve history, educate the public in the history of transportation, and provide our visitors with an opportunity to experience travel as it used to be. The Wheels Museum primary mission is to provide current and future generations with an understanding of the impact of transportation on New Mexico and the West. This mission will be fulfilled by the acquisition, preservation and exhibition of artifacts and ephemera in a facility operated by Wheels Museum in accordance with the principles set forth by the Board of Directors.

The Wheels Museum will be located on the site of the historic Santa Fe Railroad Shops in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. Built in 1914, the Albuquerque shops serviced steam locomotives operating on the Santa Fe Railroad.

Wheels Museum board meetings are held the second Wednesday of the  month and are open to the public. Please call Leba Freed at 505-243-6269 if you wish to attend in order to confirm the time and place.
